First, this is more than a Fitness Tracker, it’s a Health Tracker to help you manage your whole life. This is the core of Body Refined’s Lifestyle Management program.

Most trackers put the focus on your calorie burn, active minutes, steps and most recently, heart rate which is not very accurate on most wrist-based trackers. Most recently, companies have “fluffed” these trackers with the ability to receive text messages, emails, phone calls, etc. Thus, distracting you from the primary reason for wearing the tracker in the first place.

Don’t get me wrong, tracking your fitness has its benefits but that is a mere 1-2 hours of your day and that’s if you are engaging in some sort of exercise activity.

Since the tracker is a Ring, it can track your heart rate at a place on your body where heart rate is most accessible. If you’ve been in the hospital or visited someone in the hospital, you may have noticed the heart rate monitor connected to their finger. It is the most ideal place to get an accurate reading of your heart rate because of the thin layer of your skin in that area, effectively giving you the most accurate measurement of your sleep.

The Oura ring gives you a detailed breakdown of your time in light sleep, deep sleep, REM and how long it took you to fall asleep. Most importantly, what sets it apart, is its ability to track your heart rate variability, resting heart rate and your body temperature as long as you are wearing the ring.

Yes, it tracks your steps, distance, and activity calories burned but you must understand that data is useless, unless you are a professional athlete. If a sport is your primary job or athletic competition is a large part of your life,  then you will need that analysis to become better at that sport or exercise activity.

For the typical Jane or John Doe, those measurements do not help you to make the necessary adjustments to improve your overall health.
